The Current Music Competition April 2020 was the twenty-second edition of the Current Music Competition. It took place in the Estádio da Várzea in Praia, Cape Verde.
For the first time in the history of the CMC, the contest was not be held in the winning country of the previous regular edition. Cape Verde was chosen as the host country because it was one of the few countries on the world that wasn't affected by the Corona virus yet.
Since the previous edition couldn't take place due to Corona, songs from January, February and March 2020 were allowed to participate in this edition.
Due to Corona, the edition was suspended on April 11th and resumed on July 11th.

- The entries must be released in January, February or March 2020.
- The artists must have a strong connection to the country they're representing.
- Eurovision songs are not allowed.
